Research Integrity Roles and Responsibilities

Information for New Principal Investigators, Faculty, and Researchers

Welcome to the University of Utah! Your responsibilities for operations pertaining to common laboratory materials and research related activities in Utah are likely very similar to those at your previous institution. We have specific requirements and support services and programs developed for the following:

  1. Biological agents – including microorganisms, plants, animals, biologically derived toxins, blood/cell/tissues samples, recombinant DNA constructs, etc.
  2. Hazardous and potentially hazardous chemicals
  3. Disposal of hazardous materials
  4. Hazardous Materials Shipping
  5. Radioisotope Acquisition and Disposition
Environmental Health and Safety offers a variety of training sessions addressing laboratory safety, hazardous waste management, hazardous materials shipping, bloodborne pathogens exposure control, fire safety, emergency response, and disaster preparedness – just to name a few. I invite you to visit our web site for class schedules or to arrange for training.

I also encourage you to visit the website for the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance where you’ll find detail information regarding roles and responsibilities for the conduct of research at the University.

Welcome!
