Biohazard Risk Groups 2 and higher
All investigators must complete a
Biosafety Registration Form to document any research activities which use microorganisms that are pathogenic to humans, animals, or plants. This includes all Risk Group 2 or higher organisms (bacteria, fungi, parasites, prions, viruses, etc.) and toxins which can cause disease in humans, or cause significant environmental or agricultural impact. In addition, work with human or primate tissues, fluids, cells, or cell culture must be registered with EHS. EHS maintains a data base and will send updates on requirements to appropriate people.
