Safety Committees
Our goal is to create a safe campus for everyone. A place where no violence and no harm comes to anyone. This may be ambitious, but it is a goal that we would like to achieve.
One way to help make this happen is the creation of safety committees. Safety committees are there to identify safety issues and provide advice and support regarding those issues to directors or supervisors of departments, colleges, programs and workspaces. Participation in a safety committee is voluntary. Safety committees will work with administrative staff to resolve bring any safety issues to resolution.
Radiation Safety Committees
At the University of Utah, all work with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation requires authorization, training, and a radiation work permit. The Radiation Safety Program oversees the safe use of radiation-producing machines and radioactive materials.
All radiation users must:
- Be approved by the Radiation Safety Program
- Complete required training
- Follow proper procedures for purchasing, using, and disposing of radiation sources
